Default MP3 Player To Listen To Audiobooks

I listen to audiobooks on a SanDisk mp3 player during my walks. Sadly after 3 years my SanDisk just stopped working. I have ordered a new one, but am wondering is there a better choice other than this SanDisk or ipods. Or as a backup when this one breaks too. I chose the SanDisk player as I can directly transfer my audible books to this player. But this was before they stopped with Format 4 and now you can only download the Enhance version of AAXC. In this player it cuts off a few seconds of the ending in the audiobook. Found a way to solve it by converting the AAXC files to mp3 with OpenAudible. So it doesn't matter if the mp3 player can't play the AAXC files anymore. Any suggestions for a portable mp3 player?

I listen to them on my iphone. There is a "books" app that came preloaded. I have to add my audiobooks using itunes which is a pain (I am not an itunes fan) but I am very happy with the app.

Now just as an addendum I have an old iphone (6S) and hb too (7). We are finally upgrading next week. I hope the 12 comes with that app. I would be lost without it.

Thanks for the input, that what I was trying to avoid using my phone to listen to audiobooks. On my Samsung it drains the battery too much. I use Audible to listen to audiobooks if using the phone. Currently have to use that as I don't have anything else. Got word that the SanDisk mp3 player is not available with the supplier I ordered from so have to find another supplier. Yes I'd be lost without my audiobooks too.

Smart Audiobook Player on my Samsung phone works really well for me. Can usually listen for hours without charging the phone.
