I am not sure, it was good and bad at the same time.
I loved Claudia though.

I was against the changes at first. I was like it was gonna suck & flop. Watched the first Ep 1 and I was seduced.....
Look I understand purist wanting to see the exact story. I feel the same way about the Resident Evil adaptations..... However.... if it didn't already have an live adaptation, I could understand why folks are mad about the change. They still have the movie.
After watching writer Rolin Jones's interview.. I understood his take on the book. After IWTV, Anne doesn't favor Louis anymore and the story evolves as times change. Rolin is using the is Louis an unreliable narrator?
I'm excited to see the changes and I love not knowing what's gonna happen next.
Sam & Jacob has killed it as Lestat & Louis. Bailey was good as Claudia and I can't wait to see how her replacement does. S2 can't come fast enough.
If it was 20 years go and this adaption came out I'd been all over it but my heart isn't in it anymore. I like a modern take on vampires. I like a lot of blood and fighting. I love when artist actually lean into everything. This feels like it should have came out years ago. Not a bad thing it's just. I dunno. Shrug. So maybe I'm in the same place as you.
I still don't know, I love Jacob, I am a purist but the story is good not like other book adaptations that I loathe. I just feel the show is not for me. I watched several episodes but i am not a fan. I don't have the need to watch the next episode or the next season. This has been happening to me lately with most new shows.
I finally decided to give it a try when they put in on Netflix. I was willing to tolerate the look of the "new version" of the characters. I got as far as Louis starting to tell the story and had to turn it off. Too much was changed. I don't understand the need to change that much. Adapt what she wrote that everyone loves or write your own thing.
