I try not to judge a book by the cover, but if a cover catches my attention I am more likely to read the synopsis.

Yes to be honest.
I have lately. I tried to avoid books with an AI cover that tries to look like it isn’t AI.
Yes I do
A bit yes, cover is my first check but I also read quickly the book blurb then at least first 2 chapters to get a feel if the story vibes with me.
A cover can catch my interest
I also judge a book by its cover. If the cover is too cartoonish or glittery, I pass right by it. That said, i've noticed over the last couple of years. That some of my favorite authors who are powerhouse authors and have several great series, which I have reread multiple times have not been pushing out books as much as they used to. I'd be lucky if you get one new novel from them per half year. If this happened to only one of my favorites, I wouldn't be as concerned as I am with how many of our favorite authors have disappeared. I have more and more books I have read, despite the covers and they're not worthy of even putting in my save forever for re-read pile. I find I am pulling from my re-read more often lately, because I haven't found any new powerhouses. That said the covers are not helping introducing new authors in my opinion.
I'll admit that I do judge a book by it's cover, but if it's an author I've read before, then no. I'm sure I'm missing out on some great reads, but that's where I'll go and see if any of my friends have read/reviewed it.
