That book you remember the plot of but not the name...

Can't remember the title of this book...A widow in late 1800's or early 1900's lives in a town that has a rule that all widowed women have to be married within a certain time frame. If the women can't make their choice, the town will choose for them. It's all for the good of the town and, they say, to make sure their women are taken care of. This widow has a farm and land from her husband who has been dead for about a year (?) and it's time for her to choose. A brash, brutish man wants to marry her for her farm, and as he is the only one so far that has offered (because he runs everyone else off), it looks like the town is going to tell the widow she has to marry him. In the meantime, the widow has a neighbor who is mentally slow helping her take care of her farm. He is a good, strong, caring person. He lives with his sisters but helps out on the widow's farm (he has also come to care for her). The men of the town makes fun of and pulls pranks on him because of his mental slowness. They like him, but thinks he isn't good for much. To thwart the town choosing for her, she chooses her neighbor and he agrees. This stuns the town and brute, but it is her choice and she is allowed to marry him.

It's so SWEET... I loved it, too.

You know it's part of a series, right? The first book is Marrying Stone, the second is Simple Jess and the third is The Lovesick Cure (but this third book is set in contemporary times).

I think I remember Candace Camp - Suddenly having sex in a carriage. I think it is right after they were married and on the way to his estate. She had to meet the servants in a disarray.

Hi I'm looking for a book I read not that long ago but forgot the name. It's about this woman who planned to marry this guy since she was young. She had her sights set on him so firmly that she planned her entire life around it. In the end the guy ends up with her wild sister and she has to plan their wedding. No one knew about her wanting the groom except her brother's friend the black sheep of the town. They have a bad relationship but he rescues her from the wedding and afterwards they start sleeping together. Her brother thinks the friend stole something from the business they share so he fired the friend or he quit. She ends up pregnant I think and her brother finds out about them. In the end they decide to stay together. The brother is dealing with his own love life but is being an ass about their relationship.

I am looking for a book about an earth woman kidnapped by reptilian aliens for breeding but she is not compatible with them. Instead of killing her they give her to other aliens that they are holding as slaves. I remember that they take her down to the aliens on a scary elevator that travels very fast. And that the alien slaves may have fought for her. She does not understand the languages. I think that the Hero takes her ...maybe rapes her... I know...that is awful... any help would be appreciated. Another scene in the book where they go to get food and the h sees another female who's "protector" uses her to sell and she is being raped very publicly.
