Default E-Reader Tablet screen that is visable in sun?

I read pretty exclusively on my laptop but a friend is treating me to a trip next month to a beachfront property. I know I will be outside all the time. I would like to purchase a tablet to read on that works in sunlight. I had a kindle the last time he invited me away maybe 2019 and I did not hate it - I read on Calibre and was even able to download my audiobooks to it and use the browser for email but it died 10 months later. I think kindles have gotten more restrictive. I will say though I could see the screen fine in the sun.

Can anyone suggest a tablet? Most important to me is sun visibility and the ability to download books to it. I would also like to be able to listen to my audiobooks but it is not a dealbreaker since my iphone works ok with that. It would be really nice to avoid itunes though so a tablet that enabled audiobooks would be great. I guess I would need bluetooth as well for those but again not a dealbreaker.

    Thanks for any ideas!

I use my Kobo ereader and load up lots of books before I leave home. I have a few tablets but find them too heavy to hold while reading so went to a straight ereader.
Please send me a message if links are dead and I will update them as soon as possible. Thanks.
