I read all the books but will admit that I found myself skipping parts... it was definitely not a BDSM book as it has been proclaimed to be and I didn't find it very erotic either. In fact, I was more interested in the angst, emotional aspect of Christian Grey than anything else (sadly I had already guessed it all before I even got to book 2 so there was little surprise in store for me).

I also enjoyed emotional distress of grey some parts of the BDSM was kinda creepy in places but those sweet parts are worth the read

I didn't think I would enjoy reading the books since I don't like books written in first person. However, I found the series were great. There were some emotional moments. You just need to keep an open mind.

I reckon it was pretty good - maybe not as a novel but as a fanfic (as it was meant to be originally). I've ready hundreds of fanfic and this is top notch stuff, but of course when it's compared to authors who've probably studied how books are written or how to make them international bestsellers, this book falls just a bit short. That's not to say it isn't great but again, not international best seller material. I'd at least give it a try though - just to see what the fuss is all about - and then make up my own mind about it.

What I find so sad about it is that there are SOOO many GREAT erotica authors (that have got stories/plots & are well written) & yet they don't get nearly the publicity that this series got!?! What the heck? The few people that I've talked to about them that have read them, I've tried to steer in a better selection of authors...

My wife was talking about them so much I decided to download and see what this was all about. (She won't read an ereader so is still on the waiting list at the library). I had no idea what so ever what they were about, I admit I was caught by surprise when I realized what I was reading. I was not all that impressed and found myself skipping over the long drawn out sex scenes, but after 50 Days Darker, I had to read the final book Freed. Wasn't a complete waste of time, but I've read much better books.

My sister lent me the book and I read it last weekend. For me it was a complete waste of time, I could not understand why Anna felt for this jerk and for the erotic scenes, there are better written ones in other books.
