Default Material for a handbag when raining

    Hi,

I was wondering what kind of material you like to use for your handbags when it rains a lot. I live in Paris and sometimes it rains like crazy. I walk more than I drive in France. Even with an umbrella, I canít totally protect my handbag or backpack when itís windy while raining. I mainly have leather bags but I donít think itís sturdy enough when under a downpour which already happened. The leather was soaked.
Any idea of material in handbag which can be elegant too ?

I would try treating the bags with waterproofing spray or wash that you normaly use for shoes or to renew the impregnation of tents and other outdoor stuff.

Longchamp Pliage bags are in my experience weather resistant.
Oilcloth bags hold up very well in bad weather, Cath Kidston makes lots of different styles.

I believe Saffiano leather is treated to be waterproof. Kipling bags also seem to be waterproof plus they are lightweight to carry.

For me, Lesportac, Kipling and Cath Kidston are much better in rainy season. For leather bag, I think it's difficult to maintain and for humid weather, leather can turn mouldy too. Depends on what you want.
